Missing Summer

This Post is mainly to show you my summer office. I wish I was out riding the trails right now instead of watching it snow.

"Fat fat, we're gonna get fat fat"

The subject line was from an old Cosby routine.

Unfortunately, I, Jonesy, should say, instead of "we're gonna get fat fat", I should say "we done got fat fat". Yep, spread has caught me. This time of year I don't do much but feed horses and feed myself. So I spread out. I got on the scale a couple of weeks ago and it said 174 pounds, the heaviest I've ever been, 16 pounds overweight. I'm only 5' 8". Good pot gut growing there. Colleen said when she was shopping for a cowboy husband that one criteria was she had to be able to see his belt buckle. I'm in danger of getting sent back out on the range. I usually weigh between 155 and 160. I've always prided myself on being in shape and I've joked that one of my goals is to weigh 200 pounds--just joking, of course. But now that the fat-goal is not so far-fetched I decided it is time for action. Every winter I gain, but this is ridiculous! I needed something that would help me get my "skinny-goal".

I started searching for something that would help me lose weight, other than just starving myself, which hasn't been very effective. Starve works for a few days and then I go on a Big Mac and ice cream and popcorn binge. You know the deal; you try this and that and nothing works, or it works for a little while and then you gain it back because you can't stand to be hungry all the time. I've done the up-and-down-weight thing every winter using several popular weight-loss programs and products which, I'm sure, you are very familiar with. I was mentioning my problem to my brother, Greer, so he could poke fun at me, but I knew he wouldn't really give me a hard time, as he has been fighting the spread, too. He said he had finally found the real thing and the testimonials of those it worked for was terrific, so he tried it and he has lost 15 pounds in a couple of months. He also has more energy, sleeps much better at night, and his asthma has practically disappeared for the last two months. His friend, Duane, who told him about it has lost 37 pounds and Duane's wife has lost 35 pounds in three months. So I went to the website of the testimonials and I certainly was impressed. The main thing I was impressed with is the rapid weight loss. I called and talked with Duane and became convinced this is the real thing. With the 100% money back guarantee I figured I couldn't lose, or as the company says, "All you have to lose is pounds". So here we go. Go here to see my posts on my skinny project.

A NEW CAR!

Said with the inflection of Bob Barker, The Price is Right! Friday we had to go get a propane heater for the downstairs apartment, so thought we would go to Pocatello for different scenery. We usually go to Idaho Falls. Pocatello isn't much further. So as we were going through Soda Springs the car dealership had a Super Sale going on. We've been talking about replacing our Pontiac Montana because it has 212,000 miles on it and the sliding power door doesn't work and the back windows don't open and the refrigeration doesn't work, as well as a few other things caused by old age and miles. It does run good, but with 212,000 miles....
Anyway, we told the salesman what we wanted and darned if they didn't have it at an affordable price. Needed a van with front wheel drive with posi-traction. In this snowy country we have learned that posi-traction really takes the aggravation out of driving. We can go almost anywhere without getting stuck. Not only was it priced right but with 31,000 miles it will get a lot of use. They also lumped our truck in with it, paid off our truck, and the payments are $200 less than we were paying for the truck alone. It is a 2008 Chevy Uplander, which is basically the newer model of the Pontiac Montana.
